Things to do in Marina di Ragusa
Whether you’re after a quiet hideaway or the perfect base from which to explore Sicily, Marina di Ragusa caters to all. The village is family-friendly, with little traffic, winding streets and friendly locals. The beaches are the main attraction here, but don’t be fooled into thinking that’s all Marina di Ragusa has to offer.
The beach at Marina di Ragusa is an expanse of golden sand, perfect for sandcastles! The water is shallow for several metres out making it safe to paddle in, and the beach runs from the harbour all the way along until it meets the main square. The promenade runs alongside the entire distance. Just a short walk from the main piazza, and with a promenade full of wonderful ice cream parlours, beach shops and restaurants, whole days can easily be spent relaxing on the sand, with a good book and the sound of the waves.
Close to the marina the water is calm and quiet, with cool breezes increasing as you move eastwards; breezes which you will be grateful for during the summer months! There are beach clubs dotted along the stretch, with “La Ola” nearer the Marina, “Margarita” close to the Piazza Malta and “Baia” further along the east coast, towards the end of Lungomare Andrea Doria.
Further still to east (a car ride away, or a longer walk if you’re feeling energetic) is the River Irminio, a beautiful nature reserve with almost deserted beaches and a host of flora and fauna.
The western side of the harbour is even more off the beaten track, which means that even in the busiest summer months it is possible to claim a patch to sunbathe in. This is also the perfect area for picnic lunches on the rocks, which dip gently into the sea. If the weather is nice (which it almost always is) a dip in the crystal clear sea shouldn’t be missed!

The marina and Punta Secca
The brand new tourist port of Marina di Ragusa welcomes hundreds of boats throughout the year. Many of our properties are located near the port, the perfect place to watch the sun set or, if the mood takes you, go for a great run.
Going further west by car or bike you reach the beautiful beach of Punta Secca, with its famous gleaming white lighthouse; not to mention the home of the famous Inspector Montalbano!

Piazza Duca degli Abruzzi is the heart of Marina di Ragusa. Found here are lots of restaurants, ice cream shops, cafes, bars and shops.
During the day the square is alive and full of tourists and residents. The Caffe delle Rose on the South side of the square is without a doubt the best place to enjoy breakfast, buy an ice cream, or try wonderful cakes and typical local specialities. For the adventurous, we would also recommend the buffalo gelato available in the piazza.
For an evening apperitivo try Bar Sodo, situated just off the main piazza. This great little bar has a huge range of cocktails, and has a live DJ on Friday and Saturday night. Little in size but huge for fun; a must visit.
Met bar on the promenade also serves good cocktails and stone baked pizzas late into the night, and the huge leather sofas are almost too comfy to leave!
